In ihrer Residenz beschäftigen sich die beiden Choreografinnen Darja Reznikova und Sade Mamedova mit den Möglichkeiten, sich als Künstler*innen jenseits nationaler Zuschreibungen zu begegnen. Gemeinsam entwickeln sie multiperspektivisches zeitgenössisches und immersives Tanztheater, das sich mit Krieg, Propaganda und Populismus auseinandersetzt.
HINWEIS: In der Performance werden Gewalterfahrungen thematisiert.

SoBo Productions ist eine von Darja Reznikova gegründete zeitgenössische Tanzkompanie aus Mannheim. Sade Mamedova ist Performerin, Choreografin und Lehrerin.

The residency provided us with an opportunity to initiate the creative process of our new work, reflecting upon the impact of global conflicts on our personal social lives. It highlighted the effects of education and propaganda, the loss of dialogue and the inner conflicts we face living andworking here in Germany due to our mixed national and cultural identities. We delved into our so called ‘slavic’ roots, the world we grew up in, essentially into childhood memories and upbringing that shaped us into who we are today and our perception of the world.
Our interest was further to understand how the culture one is born into conditions one to certain behaviour and belief systems, essentially forming our ways of being with ourselves and with others. On one hand, we focused on the origins of violence in the attempt to try and comprehend how nationalist thinking and conflicts based on specific ideologies arise, overruling any sense for humanity and differentiation. On the other hand, we continued to look into conflict resolutions and innate aspects of the human being that can be transferred to the collective.
The premiere of the whole production will be on 18th & 19th October 2024 at EinTanzHaus.

The dancers’ thoughts on our process:
“As I reflected on our work, I thought for a long time about the fact that in it we also talk about the border, about the inviolability and uncrossability of borders, that borders should not be touched, nor changed, adapted or erased. It is interesting that in our work there is almost no dialog between us, and even if it starts, it immediately breaks up into two parallel dimensions.”
“The present moment is being converted in past experience of every individual. Some past experiences are painful, and human psychology is prone to cancel or deny those experiences, though they irreversibly remain as part of our personalities till the end of our lives. As a social group, individuals can share mutual experience, hence mutual, similar pain. For me personally, the aim of this piece is to show that the healthy approach to working with the painful past is to analyse it, accept it, and convert it into fuel for the present moment individually, and as a social group sharing the same pain.
If it is not being done, the potential of the present moment converted to past experience is not being fulfilled, which causes more pain.
Therefore, this piece in a way tries to answer the question: How to make the most out of our very limited time?”
