We invite you to kimaera studio: technoid beauty parlor, virtual feel-better-space and the fusion of human and machine – an installation based on their eponymous performance. Within the framework of the Schwindelfrei Festival, three artists will develop a walk-through installation in the Mannheim gallery Maquis Mami Wata that is based upon their performance.

The multi-media visual language opens up a space to think about expanding, improving and changing the body and soul.

The cybernetic symbiosis with the machine promises to be an optimization of an optimization. But what should be optimized? What is actually deficient and who decides this?

About the artists:

KFC suite is comprised of the intermedial Mannheim artists Katharina Anna-Josefine Rausch, Christopher Johannes Scheuer and Friedrich Stockmeier. In their stage performances, KFC suite combines musical theater, live electronics, augmented reality, sensor technology and installation. Their most recent work was the musical theater performance “kimaera studio.”

A structure made of rods stands in a room that is lit in purple. Hanging from the rods are a screen, speakers, and a tangle of cables. A video of the performance on which the installation is based is playing on the screen. In the background, candles are placed on the floor and something is being projected onto a wall.
A person is looking at the screen where the video is playing. A second person is sitting on a step in the background, looking at a projection on the wall. The scene is bathed in purple light.
On a shelf mounted to the structure, there are two clay objects that seem to be made to be held. Both objects have tufts of hair attached to them.
