About the Performance

How do we retain diversity in narratives that constrain bodies?

This performative research lab is centered around a 600-year-old document found in the Marchivum. böse blumen traces this historical document into the present day. The queer collective examines the mechanisms that ascribe femininity starting from witches, to hysteria, and on to the social disqualification of bodies. In doing so, it opens up spaces for vulnerability and at the same time, for collective negotiation.

“böse blumen investigates the thresholds of pain carved by cultural impacts and how they still persist in bodies. The formats of our research processes are fluid and extend over years at the intersections of performance, music production, text and artistic research. Our artistic practice is sustainable, processual and iterative – from lecture performances, concerts, community art formats to installations – we consistently examine diverse formats from a performative perspective.
